The Power of Laughter

April Fool’s Day is around the corner, which generally brings fun and laughter.

This got me thinking about the power of laughter.

“Laughter is the best medicine” is an old proverb dating back to biblical times, yet this phrase is still used worldwide. So it true? Is laughter the best medicine?

Let’s explore what happens inside our bodies and minds when we laugh.

When we laugh, endorphins are released throughout your body, stimulating muscles, nerves, organs. Studies show these endorphins can relieve chronic pain and stress and promote the immune system. Laughter literally helps heal our bodies.

Laughing causes our inner being to be emotionally and physically strengthened.

When we laugh or even smile, our inner being is stimulated affirmatively, producing a more positive outlook on life. This helps our body generate self-healing endorphins, which helps keeps it healthy and running optimally!

When we’re hanging out with friends and having a good conversation full of smiles and laughter, our minds produce happy thoughts.

Laughter causes a lift in our spirits, helping us feel uplifted.

Laughter not only helps us personally, but it’s also very contagious and infectious, which helps those around us feel less stressed and anxious.

Think about the last time you heard a baby laugh. A baby’s laughter is one of the most contagious of all human sounds. You can’t help but laugh too!

Happy thoughts can lead to a more positive outlook on life.

On the other hand, if we surround ourselves with people who never smile and seem to always find something to complain about, we’ll tend to lean toward a more negative outlook on life. So be mindful of who you are choosing to spend your time with.

When two people spend a lot of time laughing together, a stronger, more ever-lasting relationship develops.

A unique bond is created when two people share a funny story, or a silly situation arises between them. Something special is formed between them that only they can relate to.

Studies show that couples who laugh together stay together much longer – if not for life.

Think about a truly happy couple you know. Chances are they spend a lot of time laughing together. Sure, every family has its issues, and marriage takes work, but this doesn’t happen by accident either. This bond can be created and fostered!

Life can be challenging, so why not choose to make it more joyous? You can if you choose to.

When you choose to embrace laughter, you can get through the rough spots in life and come out a happier and healthier person.

Try to find joy in each situation and laugh as often as possible each and every day.

Choose to spend your time around positive people, who love life and love to laugh, and in positive situations, and you’ll be amazed at how you begin to feel on the inside and out!

How are you going to add more laughter into your life?
